It worked out though !
.
Apparently wise beyond his year, catching some shut-eye (others might call it a baby nap) on the way to our spot.
.

.
And what we're after (spruce grouse).
.

.
A hearty snack (that's a chicken meatball in his right paw) at a nice camp spot to keep the energy up.  He likes cheerios and string cheese for trail food also.
.

.
And a proud dad (me) and my son Connor,  21 months old.  Maybe next time I'll get my bow right side up (it's a scramble getting a self pic with a toddler) !
.

.
He had a great time, liked poking the grouse.  And he must have been practicing scent control as no diaper change was necessary until we got home (phew) !
.

Awesome! I took my kids out when they were his size too. Used a baby backpack most of the time. If you take him out enough, I'm sure you will eventually get stuck changing a stink bomb.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Awesome! I used to love hunting hooters. Never tried it with a bow, they were always way the heck up in the tops of those big spruce trees, at least down in the Southeast.

Yes, as much as I feared the stinky jobs I miss those days too. But I have a 4 month old grandson that will soon be sitting with me in ground blinds. In a few years anyway.

Congratulations on starting him out right Tim.

I am so happy for you.

You brought back some awesome memories for me.

The mental imagine of the "Woogchilde" sitting at my feet while deer hunting is as vivid for me at this moment as it was the day it happened. She whispered to me "Papa look deer, never mind they're just does."...lol

Thank you for sharing your memory making and stimulating those of my own.

God bless,Mudd
