Bill Stewart Multicam T/D Recurve - Great Bow!!!!
« on: October 17, 2014, 03:56:00 PM »
I just located a Bill Stewart Multicam T/D recurve, 60", 50#@28" while looking for broadheads.  I couldn't resist the bow at $400, so I bought it!  I'll post pics when I receive the bow.

There is a guy in our neck of the woods that is making a replica of the . They look exactly like the originals. His name is Robin Buck. If you need limbs he can probably make them for you.

Great shooting bows, and a fine hunting bow .. tough as nails. Glad to hear Robin is making them, he also makes a great broadhead that I've killed lots of critters with ...

I'll see if I can find my original brochure and see if it has a draw curve on it, I know it has some speed info. I used to have both a T/D recurve and LB but sold the LB to a happy guy in California ...

Below is a link to Mr. Stewart's website, which is still active.  Ckick on either pic and it will show you an enlarged view of the bow strung.  It also has the chart with spec info.  Note:  You can't order bows from this site.

The brochure does not have a draw force curve, but on the 60" limbs it is 53@ 28 and 59.5@ 30" ... on the 62" limbs it is 49@ 28 and 55@ 30" and on the 64" limbs it is 48@ 28 and 53@ 30"

Test data is provided by Norbert Mullaney

testing at 30" draw a 540 grn arrow on the 60" limbs was 203.05 FPS, on the 62" limbs 202.92 FPS and the 64" limbs 202.00 FPS ... testing was done with a 12 strand FF string. This is all provided on the link Bill put up to Mr Stewarts old web site.

I met Bill on a late season deer hunt in Washington.  I was walking down a snow covered road headed to the truck and a fellow by his truck said "Hey young feller, I recognize that bow.  In fact, I designed it for Fred back in the day."  That started a conversation about bows and bow design and Bill giving me a brochure for his multicam bows.  It was a great hour talking with Bill and I saw him and his group a few times over the years on the same hill chasing rutting mule deer.

Fun times!

I called and talked with Bill a couple of months before he died.  I was thinking about ordering a new bow from him.. Unfortunately, he passed away before I pulled the trigger.    :(

My Multi Cam that Bill gifted me back in 1993. Yew Limbs with maple riser. I had a friend darken up the riser. I now us this bow as a backup on my hunts out west or Canada. The last animal I took with this bow was 1993...Antelope in Wyoming...

Good luck with your new Bow Wildman...sure is pretty.

Joe,

Thanks!  Had I ordered a bow from Mr. Stewart it would have been a dark riser with Yew limbs, 62" and at the time probably 50#@28".

My new to me Bill Stewart MultiCam T/D recurve was delivered to The Archery Shop today.  I'll go to the shop tomorrow, pick it up and shoot it a bit.  And I may carry it to the Woods with me tomorrow afternoon.

I shot the Multicam today.  It shoots very accurately and it shoots my 486 gr 183 fps.  That's the same speed my 45#@28" Morrison Cheyenne shoots them and about 6 fps than my 49#@28" Tall Tines recurve shoots them.

I took it to the woods this afternoon. My first task was to locate and remove the ladder stand I left on the property Jan 1st, the last day of last year's hunting season.  Unfortunately, the woods have changed significantly over the past 10 months.  I couldn't even locate the logging road I used to walk to my stand location.

I was sweating pretty hard after about an hour of looking for the stand.  So, I walked to the field, got in my truck and left.    :(

I went to The Arhery Shop and shot the Multicam again today.  I took a couple of spare strings to try to get the BH closer to the recommended 7-7/8".  I had a 56" and a 57", as measured off the bow.  The longer string made the BH too low at 6.25".  The longer string gave me 7-5/8" for BH.  After shooting it a couple dozen times the shooting accuracy went to pot.

I checked the BH and it had dropped to 7.25".  I don't know what material the string was made from, but I do know it's a FF compatible string.  I put 4 twists in the string and got the BH back to 7.5" and the bow was shooting accurately again.

I'm going to order a couple of BCY-X strings for the bow and see how it does.  I suspect it'll be 4-5 fps faster than the 184 fps the bow was shooting with the string I had on it today and with a BH of 7.5".

I sure miss my Stewart!  I sold it a couple years ago because the weight was getting to much for me and I didn't have any luck finding lighter limbs.  I wish I had known Robin could make limbs for it.   I'd have never sold that thing.  They may not be the prettiest bow but man do they shoot!
