Noontime turkey
« on: October 20, 2014, 03:12:00 PM »
After a slow morning, I went back out to my hunting spot at 1130, having seen some turkeys in the area mid day. As luck would have it, I got out of the truck and saw turkey movement about 100 yards away. Putting as sneaky a move on them as I could (I had a tree or two to hide behind) I had one hen hesitate a second or two too long. My arrow hardly slowed down as it zinged through the bird, and she went down right there.
Probably the easiest turkey hunt I ever had, but sometimes easy is OK. JD Berry Morningstar, wood arrow, Ace 200 gr broadhead.

Ron, a new Morningstar couldn't hurt. Just make sure James leaves out his elk repellent when you order!

:biglaugh:     :biglaugh:   Not to worry, no elk in New York. I hope he has no deer repellent.
