I've heard fighting a couple times, and seen chasing a couple times. Can't wait for more.

Sorry for the lousy pic (ISO3200 at first light). Watched this guy this morning; he was getting interested in the girls. Saw two other bucks with the ladies, too.

On Monday I was on stand (in the wrong spot) when two does crossed above me. Feeding around for 20 minutes. Twenty minutes later a small buck came up the same trail and was feeding for a while when the two does came back through from the other direction. The buck showed no interest in them at all. One of the does even came over to him and for a few seconds they were nose to nose. He then fed out of the area and the does continued to entertain me for another 30 minutes before I lost sight of them.

I found 15 fresh scrapes on my morning still hunt. Also saw, at least, 2 bucks up moving mid-day.
Definitely the time to be in the woods!
The forest floor was damp and it was cool today.
Good luck!

Had a spike nose to the ground tail up trotting along the same path a doe took 7-8 min earlier. Think he caught up to her, heard a single blow way off in the direction they both went.

Found some rubs and a scrape. Won't be long now, except for the 80 degree temps need to stop.

Had three does to the right side of my stand at just under 10 yards and couldn't get a shot. Watched them for 15 minutes when a young 4 point came charging in like his tail was on fire. The does scattered and he stood under my right side of my stand for about 3 minutes watching them as they strolled back up the side of the ridge and disappeared. Then he too slowly followed them. Couldn't get shot at any of them.

The bucks are making scrapes and rubs here. It's been hot. I haven't seen any chasing yet. Cool front is supposed to be here later in the week. So hopefully the action will heat up.

Heard the crashing through the woods behind me this morning - sure enough a doe comes running by at 10-15yds except this time it's a mature 8 hot on the trail. Looks like it's starting to heat up.
