Don't be in a slump! I had my first shot ever at a deer this year, missed and still had an awesome hunt. There will be others and killing a deer is just a bonus. Sounds like you had an exciting time in the woods!    :wavey:

Hope I didn't sound insensitive. I can understand needing meat for the table in this days economy. Wishing you lots of luck on your next outing.

Been there, done that, bought the "T" shirt.

I often comment that if I could have shot like I do now, 40 years ago with traditional equipment, I never would have ever touched a compound. Once the ice is broken, things just seem to fall in place. I have a friend that usually tops me by several points in 3D shoots that has yet to make his first trad harvest. Once he gets that under his belt he is going to have full freezers all the time. He is a great hunter but just hasn't put it all together at the same time yet.

we just opened this past weekend and had a wonderful sit saturday afternoon, however i watched the wonderful flight of my arrow go just under the chest of a big ole doe, i know how you feel brother. Stick with it and stay positive. I will agree it does suck though
good luck to you the rest of your season

I've missed more than I'd like to admit.  It sucks, but at the same time that challenge is what keeps it interesting.  Keep at it.

I found an old journal of mine from '96 when I started hunting for the first time ever, and by myself. Didn't pick up trad archery until a few yrs later. Anyway I wrote that what I felt strongest was the reverence in being an active participant in the give/take/give again cycle of life, regardless of whether or not I had a shot at my quarry.

I missed a nice 8pt a week ago Sunday. Shot right over his back at 20yards. Best buck I have had in range with any kind of bow.   :knothead:
Then, this passed Sunday, I saw a really nice 10pt that was skirting the edge of my food plot. He made a quick scrape (15 yards from where my old treestand was   :banghead:   ), and despite my best calling efforts, he would only look in my direction. He finally lost interest and left, so I'm hoping he'll be back and I'll get another opportunity with him.
My point is, get back out there and have some fun! Stump shoot your way into your stand, and build up that confidence. The next tasty critter that comes in range will be table fare. Good luck!
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.
