Cutthroat Broadheads Get to WORK: ***HUNTING PICTURES ADDED***
« on: October 29, 2014, 10:29:00 AM »
The boys at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear have put together another top shelf product. I have spent the last several days playing with these broadheads.

I have never been a big single bevel guy. This head is making me reconsider my position. Initial impressions are great. The proportions on this head are great. I took one to the stone and it sharpened very well. The steel is hard and the edge held well after shooting into several mediums.

Flight was perfect. I like when broadheads shoot in the same place as my field points. It was time for toughness testing. I started with half inch plywood and went up to 2.5 inches shooting from straight on to extreme angles. I was quite please with the results.

I will add some pictures later on. Until then here is imagination at work.

They look good. When a right bevel is available, I will probably give them a try.

I saw those on their blog site the other day.  They look pretty good to me and maybe I'll give some a whirl sometime.  Seem to be pretty bomb proof.  Rick.

These are not "Grizzly" "VPA" copies. I assure you I have all of them. There certain differences along pros and cons to all.

Hey thanks for posting this Randy. I just opened up Trad Gang to write a post about the broadheads.

Made in the USA
Machined from one piece of steel
Teflon coated
25° taper

Nothing new really. We just couldn't find what we wanted, and what our customers asked for on a continual basis, in a one piece head.

I sent an Email to our Newsletter subscribers and we sold out of our initial run right away. We will be getting more soon, and by next hunting season have a healthy stock in place.

I am still allowing orders to be placed on our website, and they will obviously be shipped immediately when we get more heads in stock. We are still playing with grinding methods, getting packaging materials, etc.

You can read about our journey and why we built a broadhead  on our blog .

We have a Facebook page that we'll be updating as well, both for RMSGear and for Cutthroat Broadheads.

One piece machined head without any weld spots/points makes the head stronger. Hope to see the grade steel, Rockwell hardness. I like it, but feel the price may be an issue.

asbowman, yes, those are two awesome heads. We still sell and recommend both, depending on a customers needs, wants, preferences, etc.

There is nothing new here, really (is there ever?). The Cutthroat offers a time tested and proven design, but in machined one piece construction.

I'd love to try them, but I need right bevel due to my fletching jig.  Are you guys thinking of producing those too?  Rick.

Yes, absolutely Rick. We kind of missed the prime broadhead selling season this year so we didn't go crazy on our first run. We still underestimated the response and sold out within a few days.

I have mine ordered, anxiously waiting on arrival!! Have shot single bevel for 30 a long time and as Ferritwyo these are not a copy of grizzly or other heads.

That zoomed in picture shows me that they look a good bit stouter (and different) than the Grizzly's.  Looks like you may be on to the ultimate broadhead

Yes, absolutely. Heavier is easy and absolutely in our plans. It's lighter that is tough to accomplish while still having decent length and blade thickness.
