Best cell phone (Android not Apple) apps for hunting?

What do u recommend? I was talking to a fellow the other night and he whipped out his cell phone and showed me an aerial photo of where he was hunting that evening. We were in the same general area(Public Land) and I did not want to encroach on his location. Of course, I did not think about asking him what he was using.

I've been using Trimble Hunt Pro on my iPhone, really liking it, I bet they make it for Droid also??

Trimble does have a version for android also. It's a pretty handy mapping app.

Thanks for your input. I'm checking them out as soon as I receive the info. As for "Airport Mode" I seldom even turn my phone on when hunting but for mapping and aerial photos an app like those mentioned can certainly come in handy when in camp or sharing stand location info. One thing for sure, at age 67, I'm not to old to learn a new trick or two.

Backwoods navigator here - but it is a battery drainer.  

Some folks have no idea what they are missing out of with smart phones.  I seldom have mine turned on but I've never regretted taking mine into the woods - ever.  I can get weather forecast, projected wind direction, aerial photos, baramoter reading, GPS, 911 access if needed, text messages to fellow hunters (helps if/when you need help dragging out a brute),extra flashlight..... OK I'll stop there

I also keep mine in airplane mode. I don't get service out where I am most of the time, so without airplane mode, my battery drains in a few hours due to it searching for signals. I'll flip to try to get service every once in a while to see if I got texts from others or not, but its airplane 90% of the time.

I do keep it on (sound off) and in my chest pocket...with the camera app open when I unlock it. Makes taking photos of stuff fast and easy. Like this bear print from last year, in my snow-covered boot print from my walk in a few hours earlier...    :eek:

I've tried a few different gps/mapping type apps...but none of them are close to what I have with my Garmin handheld (GPSMAP 60CSx).

They all seemed to be huge battery drainers, too.

I use the power button to turn the dang thing off and forget the rest of the world.  Best app I've found while I'm hunting.

Thanks for the feedback. Battery drainage is a definite concern where I hunt.

I also use Scoutlook. It's a nice interface that allows me to easily reference all of my stand locations (I typically have 12-15 different stands, and sometimes forget where they all are).

Being able to look at a stand on a satellite image overlay, with the current and forecast wind pattern shown over the graphic is a nice reference. Always seems to be dead-on, at least for my area (Northern Michigan).
