I seen a guy shooting a recurve bow and he only had one arm . He had a nylon strap like a piece of a dog collar sewed to the string and he pulled back with his teeth . I never seen a more perfect release !!!

Keith,

Sorry to hear about your plight!  I dread the day I cannot hunt with a recurve or longbow.  But the choice of weapon is not nearly as important as the ability to enjoy the hunting experience or lifestyle, whether with gun, bow, or camera.

I still rifle hunt and reload my own ammo and enjoy the time outdoors with my brother, nephews, and friends immensely, regardless of the weapon used.

It is more important to find joy in what you can do, then dwell on what you could do in the past.  Relish the memories but enjoy today in whatever capacity you can.

Here's to many years of hunting to come!  Cheers!

Pesonally I would keep all of your archery gear.  Even if you can't shoot it.  Not as a reminder of what you can't do anymore but as an encouragement to work towards getting back there.  The yoga suggestion is a good one and if you can get back to shooting a light bow (#35) or even a light compound that's better than nothing at all.  Don't give up.

Hey Keith,

Although we have never met or even talked I really wish you the best.  If your interested I will be more than happy to talk to my wife to see if there is anything you can do to help with your problems.  She is an occupational therapist and really does help people everyday with their injuries.  I will post either tonight or tomorrow with some possible exercises if there are any that can help you.

Dang man....just don't throw in the towel.  I blew my ulna tendon last year saving a stage prop for my daughter...and I shot with my teeth for a while.  It was kinda fun re-learning.
