Keeping warm and Clearing sleeve with string???
« on: November 06, 2014, 06:12:00 PM »
We have some cold weather coming to Indiana the next couple weeks while I am on vacation hunting.

Any hints on stopping interference between the string and sleeves this Winter appreciated!

Rancho Safari full length arm guard will keep them away from each other.

I wear layers and use a heavy wool vest. I also use a extra long arm guard that covers most of my arm and bicep.

I also wear my heavy wool vest over a couple layers of wool shirts. Keeps my core warm and arms aren't all bulky.

My problem in staying warm is keeping the feet comfortable.  I found the military issue "Mickey Mouse" boots along with insulated booties fit the bill when temp is in the teens.

A few rubber bands around the areas that bulge out works pretty well. Make sure they're not too tight though.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

I have a LOT of shirts, sweatshirts, etc. that are missing the left sleeve! I bulk up on my body and right arm, but keep the bulk to a minimum on my left arm.

I've always used the compression sleeve in the past but this year have just been using rubber bands and find them much more convenient and comfortable.

My favorite thing to use for sleeve clearance with rain gear or puffy sleeved jackets, is a knee high womens stocking with the toes cut out. The black support stockings hold up a long time, but knee high nylons work well too.

Its the main reason I use a high brace height Black Widow recurve. You never have worry about hitting your arm.

I've got a mini arm guard that goes around my left bicep in addition to my regular forearm arm guard.  works great.

I use a lot of fleece and wool vests - helps insulate the core and keeps the bulk off the arms.
Everything has a price - the more we accept, the more the cost

Yes use an Armguard or a compression sleeve. Also be conscience of the bulk on you chest I use a 1in nylon strap with a buckle around my chest to flatten it down.
Keep your elbow turned out and for me it helps to lean forward a little bit.
Key: to practice with with you hunting clothes on. It can be an eye opener

I made an extra long leather arm guard that covers most of my upper arm.  Also wear a vest, which reduces one layer in the arms.
