Public land drama that I can surely do without!
« on: November 08, 2014, 04:57:00 PM »
I posted a bit back that a group of (non trad!)guys had moved in and completely taken over the public area I have been hunting for 15 years.
I recently pulled all my stands and moved on. No problems on my end. It is public land and I fully understand that.
I have found a private piece of land in RI that I'll be putting my time into.
Now, in the mean time, I get a text from one of them (whom I only know through texting...NEVER even met the guy....I know the guy who's house they park at so I gave them my cell just to try and coordinate back in early October) that is totally bullsh#t that I pulled MY stands without letting him know. He has been sitting in two of them (without my knowledge or permission) and now has no place to sit!!!!!
Literally totally pissed at me!!!!!

I always say there are less than 10% of people in this world even worth talking to. The older I get the more I think that percentage is a little high.

I think Rob W. hit it on the head.  It's a crazy world!  Good luck David with your new hunting location.

I'm appalled that you would pull your stands without consulting these guys for their permission. Maybe you should apologize to them, take them out for dinner, and buy them a new truck for your thoughtlessness.

Sort of reminds me of a text message I received the other day, clearly intended for somebody else.  I thought the sender might appreciate knowing whoever he wanted to send it to didn't get it, so I texted back "wrong #."  He texted me back and wanted to know who I was, and when I wouldn't tell him, he started swearing at me by text!

In regard to the OP:

After covering basic social niceties, I would politely tell him to shove is head up his a#% and see if it fits.

I agree with the 10% rule btw.  Its sad.  General Patton and his generation and those who fought for him would be appalled.  You should have offered to pay the jokers health insurance or house payment too.  Heck there's a-holes in every generation.

Something tells me that the guy KNOWS that it fits, because it sounds as though he KEEPS it there on a regular basis.  :readit:

I am PROUD to be so.  :wavey:

I also agree that the 10% rule may be a little optimistic. That's one of many reasons why I thank God for Tradgang. It is a constant reminder that there ARE still good people out there. I need to be reminded of that quite frequently.

I'm not positive, but didn't you previously say that it was a bunch of police officers that took over that spot? WTH is wrong with people? Maybe they won't hunt it at all since no stands are supplied. Morons.

That is awesome!

Had a guy come in a public place last yr and hang stands in the area. Met him talked to him - good feller - had his own stands and he scouted well. Thing we had conflict on is he hung two sets within 15 yards of my sets? He moved em though ---
