On the 12th it rained hard all day. I went back to the same area where I had taken the deer the day before. I seen a couple of bucks had a shot opportunity at a doe.
The 13th it was not raining but was real windy. I once again went back to the same area. Seen a fairly nice buck chasing a doe in the alders on the hill above me so i worked my way up the hill along side the alder patch. Once I got up to where I had seen the deer I set down and watched for about 45 minutes. It was getting late enough that I needed to start back to the beach so I started still hunting back down the hill. Once i got about 200 yards down the hill I looked back and the buck came out of the alders right where I had been setting. Another 20 minutes of setting might have gave me another shot opportunity.
On the 14th it was still windy. I went to a different area a little further up the bay. I seen a few deer but did not get a shot opportunity.
The weather was pretty nasty most of the time. Due the the high winds we were never able to get outside of Larsen Bay the entire week. But the hunting was good enough inside Larsen Bay. One of the good things about hunting in Larsen bay is that you can always get out to hunt even in the high winds. This is my 5th or 6th trip there and I have had a good time every trip.
There was only one plane made it into Larsen Bay from Tuesday until Saturday. My original departure time for Larsen Bay was @ 3:00 PM on Saturday but due to the weather we left earlier on the only 2 planes that Island Air got in with that day. As it was we had to fly all the way around the island at 400 feet to get into Kodiak. Island Air was able to get everybody and their bags out of Larsen Bay but they were not able to get all of the deer meat out. Once they were able to get it to Kodiak they took it to Alaska Air cargo and shipped it to Anchorage for me. It arrived in Anchorage today.
