Weird E mail from Jim Neaves
« on: November 19, 2014, 09:01:00 AM »
Just got an e mail this morning saying he is stranded over seas and needs money.  Sounds like someone got his e mail addresses and just sent it out to all.  I have heard of this type of con but there should be a western union box to send the money to.  The only thing is it doesn't say where to send money and has his real phone number.  I called and left a message.  Anybody else get this?

T sunstone,

do not send money for that. In my opinion, it is definitely a scam.  I have seen multiple scams like that play out through facebook this year.  Calls saying you won a trip, over seas stranded, etc.

TS-don't send any money to that address as this is a known scam! I have had this a couple of times with a friend and co worker, and they were not in trouble! This is a fake and a scam to get your money! Good luck.

Absolutely a scam. I have received about ten of these from business contacts whose email accounts have been hacked.

Here it is, I have spoke to Jim before about these, they seem to be false use of his email and ID.

Tim

I really hope you get this quickly. I could not inform anyone about our trip, because it was impromptu. we had to be in Manila,Philippines for Tour.. The program was successful, but our journey has turned sour. we misplaced our wallet and cell phone on our way back to the hotel we lodge in after we went for sight seeing. The wallet contained all the valuables we had. Now our passport is in custody of the hotel management pending when we make payment.

I am sorry if i am inconveniencing you, but i have only very few people to run to now. i will be indeed very grateful if i can get a short term loan from you ($2,850). this will enable me sort our hotel bills and get my sorry self back home. I will really appreciate whatever you can afford in assisting me with. I promise to refund it in full as soon as soon as I return. let me know if you can be of any assistance. Please, let me know soonest.

Thanks so much.

I know it is a scam and never even considered sending money. Bbut how are they going to get any money with no western union or some other money transfer.

Got it too.  I called him to let him know about the scam but it went to voicemail.  He's not in the Philippines is he    :readit:    Fortunately for unsuspecting victims, there wasn't a link to send money.  I'm sure they want to reel victims in more and request more before having money sent.

Hey all, sorry for the bogus email. Sometimes this sort of thing happens especially when you have an email publicized to a website. Anyways it's a scam and this one has been going around for awhile as I received the same one from a personal friend of mine over 2 years ago. Thanks for the heads up and concern.

It is a scam but beside being that someone may have harvested his email address form the web for this. More than likely it means his email has been hacked or there is a virus on his email server.
