What bow holder in the tree?
« on: November 19, 2014, 01:35:00 PM »
What do you guys like. I rarely hang my bow up but with the weather getting cold it would be a good option. Thanks

3rivers sells a neat little folding screw-in bow hanger that weighs next to nothing and screws into a tree very easy. They're a little pricey but worth it to me.

I either use the little $0.99 screw in hangers from the local sporting goods store (and I buy them in bulk because I always seem to lose them), or stick my bow in my boot.

I like having it hang in front of me at the ready, not behind me in the tree, so that's why I usually limit myself to these two options.

I get a screw in utility hook at the hardware store.  They are usually covered in red vinyl but I overwrap with black friction tape.  Keep one in my quiver pocket.  I have also used my leatherman knife blade and stuck it into a tree with the cutting edge down of course.  I'd much rather just lean my bow against a tree.

I use the little dollar screw in hangers  from walmart....I put several in a tree for multiple purposes such as bacpacks or binoculars. Alot of times if a branch is in the right spot I will just saw it off close to the base and use it.

I try to find a branch at the right height and clip it about 2" long, hang my bow on that.

I use one of the Real Tree extended screw in holders.  They are super strong and easy to use.

I use a Realtree® EZ Hanger Bow Holder 3 arm model.  I hang it right over my head so I'm actually looking through my bow when seated.  I keep it at a height where all I need to do is reach forward and it is in a ready position.  Because it is right over my head, it doesn't get in the way when I shoot because I cant my bow. I shoot from a sitting position 95% of the time.  When I stand up, it's easy to just swing away from me.  I hang my bow almost 100% on the time.  I take it down after each sit & it stays in my pack.  Therefor just need one...tippit

I use the little screw in hooks if I have a convenient limb to use and the real tree or hme folding hook if there isn't.  Our hardwoods tend to twist the screw part out of the square tubing so I drill a hole through both and put a tension pin in to keep it from busting the internal weld and twisting out.

x2 tippit.

although this year I'v ebeen playing around with videoing my hunts and I switched out the realtree 3 arm fo an old 2 arm model so I could mount the camera on the 3 arm.

this is on private land, on state land in MA its illegal to screw anything  through the bark of a tree.  I took an old 2 arm model, cut the screw off and welded on a bracket so I could strap it to a tree...but it doesn't work nearly as well as screw-ins.

Saw a thread on here a while back suggesting this
 http://thirdhandarchery.com/product.asp?PRODID=10

Ordered one and used it last weekend. Awesome if you hunt a ladder stand and have the rail to attach it to. Wish I had it years earlier

these (3rd hand) never worked well for me from the platform of a regular hang-on stand.   you have to angle them so far forward to 'lock in' a trad bow, they'd almost be out of reach.

I have been using the Lone Wolf utility belt for the past few seasons and I love it!  Don't need to screw anything into the tree, just clip it on and cinch it down.  I hunt from a climber a good bit so it makes setup easy.

I use an easy climb folder tree step wrap it with duct tape. Can double as a hand hold if needed.  Easy to remove or just leave it till next time.

99.9% of the time, I lay the bow across my lap. Every so often, I use a cheap little screw in hook from the hardware store that costs like a buck or two. It serves it's purpose well.

Cheap screw in deals from hardware or sporting good store. Have drove large nail wrapped in electrical tape into a tree for this before. Always remove it at end of season of course

Third hand archery bow holder works awesome on my climbing stands. Easy to mount with just 4 bolts and rotates to fit any recurve or long bow.
