It is getting close this should be fun. I will be in Tyler on the morning of the 22nd. Have you got a head count on people attending?

I did forget to mention that the portable toilet is gone! It was there for all of deer season and for some time after but when we went scouting it was no longer there. So it's every man for himself! Sorry!

With no potable water or toilets, and all the rain, it sounds like the state park next door is the way to go. A week without a shower and we will smell worse than the hogs

There is another campground just right down the road as well called Whispering Pines. A day pass is 5 bucks (I think). Worth every cent to feel human again!

Crittergetter,
Do you feel like there will be dry places to tent camp or do you think a person should opt for getting a place in the campground? The lack of facilities does not really bother me as long as I have a dry place to set a tent.

The first camping spot as you pull into the wma usually stays pretty dry, BUT it has been exceptionally wet the last 2 months! It's even raining now and supposed to rain this weekend. As well as chances later next week. There WILL be some wet conditions!! I think It would be a viable option! We know the owner pretty well from camping there a lot last year. I will get in contact with him tomorrow and see how many spots will be available.

Little did I know last November when I planned this that we would have this much rain in April!

Ran out to look things over since we had a lot of rain this week. It's definately wet but the camping areas don't look to bad though. And the forcast isn't looking as bad as it was. Still some chances later in the week. Heres a few pics of the area

Just so everyone is clear you need a hunting license and an annual public hunting permit. As well as your hunters safety.

Just got home from shopping after church. Got all the fixin's for a massive pot of chili. Figured we could eat it Tues or Wed night. It usually takes me 1.5-2 days to make and it is always better after setting for a day.

I got to run out and meet with Wally and Jim this afternoon for a few min. Couple of good ole boys! They did some scouting around today and said it's WET!! Lots of standing water! Had about 2" of rain last night. But they seemed in good spirits and are starting to get a game plan together. (Find higher ground) but that can be hard to do with the entire wma being river bottom land. Anyways its going to be a good time with some great folks. Just sad that I can't get there till tomorrow night or Tuesday morning! I will post pics along the way as this progresses along!
