Arrow rest, Black Widow
« on: November 28, 2014, 06:57:00 PM »
I just purchased my first widow recurve (used MAIII), and the shelf is bare.
What arrow rest are the masses using on this bow, or is it a simple horse hair base and plate intent?
Have been shooting longbow for the past decade and a half, and shooting off the shelf with horse-hair.

I used to use the Velcro rests from BW. Then I got over the "it has to be shot of the shelf". Went to the brush rest like I use on my Bears.

Trap's feather rest.   You wont regret it.
Plenty of room with that sight picture. Love it on my MA.

Thanks guys.
I was just looking on the 3 rivers sight at the feather rest. It sure looks like it would work well. What is the longevity of this thing once installed?

I think that all the Black Widow bows come from the factory with calf hair.  My longbow did and is still going strong after 2 years.

After trying feather rests on a few bows...I plan to shoot them on any bow that will tune well with one. Every flat shelf recurve will definitely have a feather rest....radius cut recurves if they shoot better with it...longbows too if they fit on the shelf. Bear was really on to something with the feather rest!

Calf hair.  Use what you are used to. It will shoot.

I had always had good, but not perfect, arrow flight shooting my Widows off the shelf and was satisfied until I installed a Hoyt Super Rest. It didn't require a lot of tuning and now I get great arrow flight. These rest are so cheep it seems it would be within everyone's budget and you can reinstall the shelf and side plate if not satisfied.

Grouse
