My first trad kill

So after many many hours in the woods and not seeing anything.  I got very discouraged so much to the point I figured it was time just to spend the evening flinging arrows rather than to just sit in the woods.  I got to the point today where I was hitting pretty good maybe and inch of where I was focusing (at 12-15 yards for me that is doing well).

The new place I was at was really open so much to the point I could actually see 40 yards in any direction but behind me.  I also knew that this was a feeding ground for animals due to all the acorns that have been dropping all season and the lush green grass.  I have never really considered this place for hunting until I was presented with an 8 yard shot, but with obstacles in the way.  

So with the sun falling in the sky there I was with field point in hand and desperately trying to get the correct arrow off the bow quiver.  Slowly but surly making my way closer through every obstacle and getting closer to accomplishing my goal.  I finally made line of sight with my quarry and he had no clue what was about to happen.

So many things running through my mind at this point.  Deep hook, low elbow, back tension, and PICK A SPOT!!!  I don't know what happened but he looked my way and stopped ears perked up as if he could not see me, but I was right there.  Seconds seemed like minutes as I could see the bow lift and lower with every breath.  I could see my pulse fluttering the string back and forth.  So still almost to the point as not to breathe.

Next thing I witness is his head lowering back down to finish eating and I draw.....  Never before has my arrow flown so slow and at the same time things happened so fast.  The shot at 8 yards was perfect picking a spot worked!

Just imagine how I will be with my first trad deer.  I don't know guys but I was kind of happy with this harvest.  As for my location?  Well lets just say I was close to home.  Yes I will definitely eat her and she is cleaned up and good to go.  Thanks for listening and thanks for everyone's help to get me where I am at so far.

Nice, if you could get a couple more of his buddies, you can have a real good start to a great meal for two. Roving is always great practice, it puts you in hunting situations on the hunting land. Keep up the shooting and maybe luck and handwork will pay off with a deer soon.
