#3 durning gun season
« on: December 10, 2014, 07:33:00 PM »
It's gun season here in MD so I hit a bow only area this evening. When I was walking in and got to the place I wanted to hunt I jumped a few deer. My heart sank but I still climbed up a pine tree. It was real windy today so I had a great ride all evening. At 3:30 I had 3 does walk by just out of range so I felt better about jumping the deer. Then at 4:30 I have 5 more walk up on me. I picked the biggest one and drew and hit her right in the heart. She was down in a few seconds. The .75 mile drag was fun afterwards

Nice day for you-  in central NY not so nice.  I almost cried when I saw the leaves and no snow. Luckily winter starts in 2 weeks so I can count on more snow blowing.

Good shot! I have not found gun season to greatly affect the bowhunting at my place. Deer movement does not seem to change significantly. All of the property around me is privately owned, so the volume of fire is not what might be found on public land.
