Was out with Neytiri after rabbits today. Was going down a dirt road between some old walnuts and some new walnuts.
Seen some movement up the road about 300 yards . Got in to the older trees and started a sneak. Got a hundred or so yards closer ,peeked around a tree and saw a young coyote with its head in a hole on the side of the dirt road. Got to about fifty yards and got ready . Gave it a few lip squeaks and it looks my way then pokes its head in the squirrel hole again.
A few more squeaks and it runs right up to me.
Made a few more stands with nothing coming in. Got set up in some old peaches stated doing some dying rabbit stuff.
Just about the time I was going to call it quits I see something gray and real low to the ground stalking me was about sixty yards out. Pretty cool watching a big cat sneaking up on you. Gets to fifteen yards ,I raise up a little and the arrows off.
Was cold,foggy and wet today but It was worth it . Got it tagged and ready to tan out. Real nice pelt. Gave one hind leg and a back strap to the guy across the street . I kept the other back strap and the other hind leg.
