To the top and back down, all in a days hunt
« on: December 14, 2014, 03:29:00 PM »
Well like most of you I like a little adventure in my hunting, and getting in a little deeper then most do is what it takes. I took a few pic's this year. Lets start with the hill that I was hunting on this fall.

When I got to camp this year I unpacked quickly and threw a log into the stove before leaving. As I  drove the 3 miles  to the hill that I was going to hunt I reminded myself to take it slow.
Once there I suited up with my Stand,Climbing sticks,Pack and Bow Then started up.

Looks like a great spot to be, helps to be in a deer rich state.

Well I'm now settled in my stand. A drink of water and a candy bar later and I'm ready for some action.well its around noon now and the squirrels up here on this ridge have been driving me crazy in all these dry leaves. Its at this time that I tell myself don't bother looking back behind yourself again its just those squirrels, but I can't help it and I turn to look. And right in the middle of this pic is were she comes from.

Well she comes up from the bottom and starts popping acorns on my ridge,at this point I'm deciding weather to take her or not,I do have two tags. well she makes my mind up for me when she starts walking straight at me. As she walks nearly out from under me and walking away, the arrow is on its way and as she spins and heads down hill. I can see part of my fletching right in that sweet spot.Just before she's out of site I notice her legs.start to go.

I looked at my watch and decided to go get her.I picked up her trail and within 5 minutes found her just above a nice flat bench. The next three days gave me more opportunities on some more does but I wasn't able to get a nice buck to come in. But I have a new Toelke whip T/D coming tomorrow and a tag left. Hopefully another story
