Ended Up Getting A Doe
« on: December 14, 2014, 05:30:00 PM »
I got home from work and barley had time to run out and get a hunt in,but I'm glad I went. There was about 40 minutes of daylight left, and I got a shot on this doe. The shot looked good to me,and the doe bucked straight up and almost got vertical. I was very excited, and decided to stay in the blind for a bit. I got out and saw my arrow sticking in this mesquite tree, and it had blood all over it,but when I got to looking elsewhere could only find a little bit. I started looking and couldn't find blood but just a few feet. I was not feeling good now, because it was getting dark quick, and I had no idea in which direction to go in. I looked for an hour, and it seemed like way longer because I was really tired and just felt like I was searching for a needle in a haystack. I finally went in one last direction, and happened to walk up on her. She hadn't made it all that far,but I just hadn't been looking in the right spot. I ended up being up almost 24 hours by the time it was all said and done, and then work called me right back out,so I only had three hours sleep, but it was all worth it!

Congrats Rick. Be careful running on such short sleep. I understand it all too well. Sometimes a man just has to hunt! Congrats again on your doe.
