Game Bag?
« on: December 17, 2014, 11:04:00 PM »
Anyone have any experience with Caribou Gear lightweight elk quarter game bags?  I'm using cotton bags now, but they're rather bulky and heavy. I'd consider other brands as well.  Happened to see this one on the internet. Just looking for something that's lighter and smaller for my day pack.

I have had good luck with their stuff.  I have used mine multiple times. Just wash them and they are like new. Best light weight bag I have used.

Jerry, I bought a set of T.A.G. bags last year and love them. Extremely compact, light weight and durable and wash up well for reuse.  A bit pricy, but when you can use them over and over they are well worth it.  I remember checking out the Caribou Bags as well - seemed like they were highly reviewed also.

I agree with Whip on the use of T.A.G. bags.  I bought some a few years ago and really like them, particularly if I am backpacking.  They are pricy, but I think they cleanup very well and will last a long time.

Thanks, fellas.  They seem quite similar.  I'll do a little comparison re size and weight and make my decision.

It won't help on dry weight, but I have been compacting game bags to carry by using the vacuum sealer that I use to pack meat and fish for the freezer. They suck down flat and very small, and they stay dry until I open the vacuum bag.

I do the same with a pair of spare socks, and a little firestarter kit.
