Check out my new bow!

Finally had a chance to build one for myself. 60" RD LB, 53#@28". Texas ebony riser (provided by Duck'n...yours is in the works) with sap wood, cocobola stripe and wedges, and blue glass accents. Timber rattler skins on limbs and quiver. Quick, super quiet and very easy to shoot. I am pretty satisfied with this one. Hope to make meat with it soon. What do you think of my home-made contraption?

VERY Colorful. Congrats.
The crack on the belly of the riser coming down from the shelf would worry me a bit though. I have seen about 4 bows crack right there that were dry fired. I know the glass behind the crack SHOULD keep it from being a problem, but if it occured after the finish, I would be concearned about WHY.

Thanks all! Carbon Caster, TX ebony and for that matter most exotic woods are bad about cracking. I super glued the crack befor finishing and it has not moved through 500-600 shots. Normally I will color over cracks with a marker after supergluing and before applying finish but I forgot this time. I am not concerned about it at all b/c with the finish on it it will turn white and be very conspicuous if it is mobile and it is not.

Sounds good Dan. How do you like the FMJ Axis Arrows?

Thanks drew. Carbon Caster I really like the FMJs. Shot Beman MFX for a long time and was disapointed with their toughness. Loved the way they shot though. The FMJs are nearly indestructable and shoot great. In fact they shoot so well I get perfect broadhead flight with 4" parabolic feathers. I love that b/c they fly quietly. Doesnt make any difference how silent your bow is if your arrows are noisy.

I have the "old technology" Bonner longbow (serial #2). Not quite as fast, but it sure puts the arrow in the right place. For someone who just started making bows, Dan does some pretty amazing stuff.

A bow to cast an arrow in honor of our troops every July 4th and Veterans Day...and of course everyday in between.

Sant, I never really thought about it but it is kinda red, white and blue. Need to twist up a scarlet and gold string to honor the Corps as well.
