30" draw and shoot the best with bows at or around 60#. I seem to get sloppy when I shoot the lighter weights for some reason...

I'm pulling just over 31" measured at the front of the shelf. My Treadway Black Swamp is 42@28 and my Big Jim Desert Recurve is 39@28. Getting around 50# and 47# respectively.

I have noticed that quite a few shooters think their draw length is longer than it actually is.

" Short arms " here   :(   I draw about 26 with my grizzly and 25 1/4 with my D bows. All my bows shoot 45 to 53 lbs @ DL. I prefer 47 to 50. I don't get as clean a release under 47 lb. I can easily draw heavier weights up to 67 lbs but the aging body says back off or you may be sorry in the future. Wish I had the longer sight picture with a longer DL.

29.5" DL for me. If a bow is much over 45#@28" it is too heavy for me!

29" Draw plus or minus a hair.  I prefer bows at 50 or less at my draw and think 50@28 would be my cut off when looking at Tradbow but prefer 45-48@28.  Last two bows ordered I went lighter than previous bows.  Still plenty of power for hunting.

I personally think there is no need to shoot 60-70lb bows but its personal choice and everyone is different (or just stronger than me).  Some say it helps them get off the string better.

Shoot what is comfortable for you and dont worry about
others.  Its your bow and that is all that counts.  I like bows I can shoot for long periods of time and focus on form not my shoulder.  Again, its a personal choice.

*sigh*..... a hair under 32"
All my bows are measured as 60#@30"
I'm sick of people telling me that they wish they had a long draw. Personally, I'd rather draw 28-29" & be able to shoot a shorter bow. Right now 62" is as short as I can go & usually have to stick around 66. My freaking selfbow is 73"!

29" draw here. For me, bows that stack have a tendency to aggravate an old sports injury in an already arthritic shoulder. So, I am very picky about the bows I like to shoot. I used to shoot heavier bows but now all of my bows are right around 50 pounds, give or take 2 pounds, at 29".  I expect I'll go down another 5 pounds or so as I get older.

Ken : with a long draw most bows @28 are getting very heavy @31 because they where not designed  to draw that far. I love my bows that are built to my draw and weight at 55.

27" draw for me, I like my bows anywhere from 46-50 pounds at my draw. I have a bad shoulder from a work injury and much more than that I will feel it the next day.

Ken, I think you are right about some people not knowing their Draw Length.

I think I draw 29 3/4. My preference is for bows to be around 50-55 at my draw.

When I switched over to LH, I worked on my form, and as a result, expanded my draw length to 30". I thought that would be beneficial, and maybe it is, but I like bows that are made for my draw length.

Drew hit it. Some bows stack when they are drawn inches farther than they are designed for.

For buying used, the selection is sooo much better if you draw 28".
