Riser wood-Cocobolo and???
« on: December 29, 2014, 08:16:00 PM »
My next bow will have a Cocobolo riser, it is still a few months out. I am thinking of a combination of Cocobolo and something dark, but not sure  what. Looking for ideas, and pics if you have them!

Thanks,
David

Ziricote!

Here's my latest love affair, my Whippenstick Phoenix.  Man what a bow.

Ziricote with coco' flare.  You could just reverse them.

Cocobolo can be a very dark wood...this is Cocobolo with a padauk stripe...the bow was sold to me as Macassar Ebony and I had no reason to doubt that until the original owner contacted me and corrected the misunderstanding

I like Coco and Osage, it will darken with time.

Cocobolo and Bocote make a nice riser. I'm partial to Yew or light maple accents in my Cocobolo risers.

If your Cocobolo isn't too dark Gabon Ebony will make a stunning match.
