Tapering lams
« on: December 31, 2014, 03:37:00 PM »
Hey guys, this might be a really basic question, but what are the performance advantages of fully tapered laminations on a composite bow?

This would be in contrast to a bow made with parallel laminations, and when sanded and shaped the outermost would get thinner and possibly get sanded all the way through.

I hope that makes sense. I wish I could draw a picture lol.

You might want to take this to the Bowyers bench.

But if you are talking all natural bows.  By pre engineering the taper in a multi lam bow you maintain the integrity of the lamination and get a better bending bow then by tillering it later.
