Field point test kit?

Would be for Easton FMJ shafts which need 9/32 points. Only ones im finding are 5/16 or 11/32?

Any idea where to find them?

9/32 only got  to 145 grains. If you foot your arrows you will be able to use a 5/16 test kit
You cod use them now but the point would look like a bubble on the end

You can buy what are called easy pull points up to 250-300 grains.  They're tapered in the back, almost down to the 9/32 diameter.  Of course, anything from 175 grains up does look like a bubble on the end of a skinny shaft.

I shoot 200 grain heads on fmj's.  They do just fine, just look a little funny. I do like to use the 3rivers footing collars.  The only negative is they tear up targets a little worse, but that's an easy trade off for me.  Just screw them on and shoot.  I don't worry too much about how they look.  You'll never find that weight broadhead in 9/32, so why bother?  My two cents.

You can use the broad head adapters. They also act like a mini footing of sorts. Have to get the right size for your shaft.

I've also chucked 5/16 points in a drill and turned the back edge to a taper with a file. Takes very little time and I wiped a bit of cold blue on them and they look factory new.

Taper the heel on your bench grinder to make them match up like I do...I shoot ground down easy pull style points to 300 grains on Full Metal Jackets, except for the 250 spine DG which is 5/16, all the time...or you can buy the 75 grain brass inserts and use 125 grain points for 200 grains up front

By the way you are not going to change the dynamic spine on a Full Metal Jacket by changing point weight as much as you might hope for...I find a 50 grain change in point weight to be unnoticeable...you will need an arrow saw to do a good job of fine tuning your FMJ

Yea that's what I figured Dave, I'm going to leave them full length with the point weight I am looking for, then cut as necessary.

Still trying to decide between the FMJ and Axis traditional.....

An Axis trad @ 32" would be roughly 638 grains with the 50 grain insert and 250 grain point.

The FMJ @ 32" with regular insert and 250 grain point would be w/in 3-4 grains. Both should come in very very close to 10 gpp of draw weight.

I would use JB weld on the HIT inserts for either one, but the Axis trad would get footed whereas the FMJ doesn't need it.

The Axis traditional looks better in my opinion, but I do like the finish on the FMJ as it makes for much easier target pull.

I am truthfully only going to go with either one of these arrows, I've tried Gold Tips and don't like them, AD's are too thick, Grizzly Stik's would make me take out a 2nd mortgage if I owned my home, and woodies look really cool but break too easily.

I like the profile of the VPA 250 grain screw in 3 blade heads, and would most likely use Cutthroat's 160 grain single bevel head for a 2 blade option (mounted on a 100 gr adapter)

Could go the Abowyer route as well depending on which one I wanted to use....This bowhunting deal is very expensive haha, especially the traditional side!

Don't throw wood out in the trash till you give it a solid try.  Do your own study on them and then decide.  I said the same thing when I was shooting cedar, then I found douglas fir by Surewood and have been EXTREMELY satisfied with the results, and the trophies on the wall to remind me how great they are.

If you foot the Axis Trad shafts with 1" of 2018 aluminum shaft you get the 5/16" diameter, 10 grains up front, and a stronger point.  Not all that bad a combination.  I have a bucket of 2018 pieces just for this.
