Tall Tines, Long Draw, and Arrow Spine Help

Okay experts....toss some advise my way. I have a new bow coming (new to me Tall Tines 62", marked 53#@29"). I draw to 30", so I figure about 55# (which is the perfect weight for me). One issue I've had with every bow I've owned is that I seem to need a stiffer arrow than what most everybody else uses. My PSA needed axis 340's with 225 grains up front, an even then I had to slide the cat whiskers down the string to slow it down some and straighten out a bare shaft. My dakota was the same way. I have always attributed this to my 30"+ draw length. With finances being strained, I'm trying to get some arrows that will spine out right the first time, and stay within that magical 10gpp mark.

Does anybody shoot a set up similar to this? If so, what arrow set up do you find tunes well for you? Most have recommended 400 spine or 55/75 arrows. The spine calculator says 340 FMJ's with a 50 gr insert an 125 gr tips should be about right with a 30 5/8" FMJ. But it also says the last arrow I used with my widow was way under spined, and it bare shafted perfect. Just looking for some real world experience from those of you who own a tall tines, or any other bow cut 1/8 past center.

I've had to sell most all my other bows.....so I hope this one works out.

Arctic....I shoot a 62" Tall Tines that is marked 56lbs at 28" and I draw 29" so I am actually drawing about 58lbs.   I shoot the regular black Easton Axis 340s cut to 30.25" with the aluminum 16gr insert an 11gr 1" aluminum footing and 250gr points. They bare shaft and paper tune perfect. Total weight is almost exactly 600gr. I also happen to shoot the exact same arrow out of my PSA that has almost the exact same specs.

I think this will help, I shoot a TT 53# at 27, I messed around with a FMJ 500. I then went to the 400 and even tried the 340, these both shoot very well with 300 grains on the front end. My total arrow weight is around 650. I think the 340 FMJ would be a great shaft with a heavy front end for your draw and poundage.

You might try some AD trads. I shoot them out of a 62" Thunderstick MOAB, 48@30, drawn to 31".  Total arrow weight is 550 or so with 175 grains up front, plus the standard insert.  Pretty forgiving arrow.

I shoot a 55@30 62" tall Tines. I draw on the long side of 30 but not by much. I've found 340 Easton Aftermaths (cheap and pretty durable) left full length along with 275 total point weight
(insert and point) to be just right.  These weight out to be 611 gr.

I have shot several TallTines in the 28.5-29" draw length. I'd have to say go with a 340 shaft. The ones you have for your PSA should be pretty darn close if you are able to play with the point weight.

Thanks for the help. I ordered a half dozen 340 FMJs yesterday. We will see how they work out.
