I had no idea.....
« on: January 16, 2015, 06:32:00 PM »
How fun and exciting this is. I have only been shooting 3 days for about 45 mins a day and I am completely in awe of what you guys do. I should have done this long ago. I have shot from 5-22 yards in the last 3 days and the feeling I get when the arrow hits where I want it to is a shock and a great feeling. I miss the target a bunch, but about every 3 shots, Im in the vitals or even dead center of the lungs on my target. The crazy thing is, I hit the target better at 16 and 22 yards than i do at 8-12 yards. can't explain that one. Im noticing just how important that consistent anchor is, when I do that, I usually hit where I want. When I do that, my arrow seems to fly beautifully. I will keep going forward and getting dialed with the proper form and arrow set up. Im going to my first trad shoot tomorrow, not keeping a score, just hoping to come back home with all my arrows! Thanks to everyone for the help, and for you future help!

With your full length arrows your closer to point on distance at 22yds vs 8 yds. Consistent anchor, back tension and solid bow arm will serve you well.

Love your enthusiasm, makes me want to turn on the flood lights a go fling a few.

So being farther away makes it somewhat easier to judge where to aim? I think I remember saying that to myself at 22 yards.

If you come back with all your arrows there is a chance you did not take any risks...they are making arrows every day

Diddo on your feelings. Consistency is the key to this addiction. I also am learning this more everyday. My focus on every shot has improved vastly and my shots are getting better. Oh yea...enjoying the heck out of it! Good luck.

Good for you.  Nothing like watching the flight of the arrow, especially one doing what you want it to!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
