Last Dance
« on: January 17, 2015, 03:07:00 PM »
Well just got settled in for the last dance of the season. Seeing the white side of 15 white flags running out of the bedding area beside my stand as I walked in wasn't a good thing. Can't go to other stands on this south wind. Not looking good!

Good luck. maybe they will filter back in.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Was thinking of heading out today, shot a few arrows in the yard and decided against fighting the high winds.

Well this one all began two days ago on Friday when my brother and I went out for a scout and set up two stands that we knew would be our last sits of the '14-'15 Kentucky hunting season. He found a great spot and 20 minutes later I found one as well. I knew the deer where bedding in a thicket in a corner of a large wood lot. I found a entry exit path from the thicket that looked like a cattle crossing through a small creek. Brother and I returned to the trucks and got all our gear and each returned to our spots to hang our final stands of the year.

You can see the white pad of the seat foam on the folded up seat here. Dang Squirrels!

Well Saturday came and after watching my basketball team lose to Duke I gathered my clothes and headed out. My brother had gone to the game so he would be rolling in later, so I parked at the farm and walked in to the stand. On the way in I bumped a bunch of deer out of the bedding area. After I got situated in the stand I began this post from the tree as my heart really wasn't in this hunt. I didn't think for a minute I would see another deer the rest of the evening. I had bumped them, its was 50 degrees and it was quit windy.

Boy was I wrong.
