Stumping at the cabin
«
on:

It's been a busy winter, as always, and we had a chance to get away to our cabin for the night last night. We arrived in the late afternoon and enjoyed some venison meatloaf and a nice campfire.

After a great nights sleep and a relaxing breakfast it was time to hit the woods.

It was a great morning to get back in the woods. Here's the team.

After a few warm up shots we decided to go for a challenge. We called this shot "threading the needle." The target was the snow that stood up at the base of the stump.

My shot was a bit to the left. Jen's bounced off the stump but you can see from the snow that she hit it perfectly!

This shot proved challenging from various angles.

Here's our line up for today. We all shot bows that were home made in our basement which is extra fun.

We went a little farther and envisioned a bear sneaking through the woods.

We got him!

We went up the hill up a little and found a bunch of mouse tracks. It's cool to see all the different tracks in the snow.

We followed a deer trail back to one of our main logging roads.

At this point Jen and Zach's fingers were getting cold so they headed back to the cabin leaving Luke and I to continue stumping and also do a little scouting for next deer season.

We continued along the trail and picked various targets along the way.

Luke found a challenging "across the draw shot" which was the snow that stood a little higher than the rest on the dead tree.

The draw, anchor and picking a spot.

He gave a thumbs up with the shot.

I was also happy with the results on this one.

We did a little more scouting and came across some beds and some raccoon tracks on a log.

We took a rest to enjoy the view down the valley.

It was time to make our way back to the cabin and pack up. We found a few random targets along the way. It was a great day here in Wisconsin, thanks for coming along.
