Shakespeare QT bow...who else has shot one?
« on: January 21, 2015, 05:04:00 PM »
Hi all. I managed to get my hands on a 1975 Shakespeare Quick takedown bow. It was a very decent price too. I paid 110 bucks for it.Looks like it has never even been shot.Took it out to the range today and let em fly...my God what a wonderful bow.3 inch groups from 2o yds, 7 inch groups from 45 yds. Smooth as silk to draw. Does anyone else have one of these bad boys? I thought Bear made some of the best bows around, but this bow might have converted me. Always love any input.

I have one of the QTD's (quick take-downs) from Shakespeare - dark green painted magnesium riser, thumb-bolt limbs, black glass.  As I recall it is 62 inches and it is 50 lbs.  Dad picked this up for me when I was a kid in the late '80's and it has been my carp bow ever since.  The late Quince Hale, from North Carolina, came across a bunch of these back then, I don't remember the details, but there were boxes of them, and he was selling them for $50 each or so.  Fine shooting bow, I wouldn't be afraid to use it on deer, for sure.

I heard stories that Bear and Shakespeare often shared glass when one factory was short. Shakespeare made awesome bows. I have never heard a bad thing said about a Shakespeare, other than they are no longer around.
