Kuiu or Sitka for a tall guy
« on: January 30, 2015, 02:56:00 PM »
Which company has a better fitting jacket for someone with a long torso? Im trying to get a jacket that will be long enough with out being too baggy.

I'm 6'6" and usually wear a Large Tall.

I am open to suggestions for other companies as well.

This isn't the answer to your question, but Cabelas offers a bunch of clothing in tall sizes. Im 6'4" and really like the outfitter camo gear that I have from them.

I have a number of items from Sitka.  Most are about average in fit, and fit my average frame pretty well.  If "long" is not available as an option, you might not like the fit.  Some of their jackets are cut to waist level, which you probably wouldn't like at all, and others are cut to thigh level, which would work better for you.

I received a Sitka Jetstream jacket for Christmas but am in the process of selling it because it's too short in the torso. I purchased the kuiu chugach jacket a year or two ago but ended up returning it for the same reason. I'm a few inches shorter than yourself but still have a difficult time finding a quality jacket that is long enough in the torso without being too baggy. I don't own one but the First Lite stormtight jacket fit me well length wise, it's just a touch baggy for my liking.

Not the two you asked about but firstlite is what I have and I'm 6 2 and the have length to spare for me. I love my firstlite stuff.

I'd call Sitka. They have outstanding customer service and will be able to answer any questions. I also know they have "tall" sizes.

KUIU is quality stuff but they have had availability and supply issues in the past

kuiu depends on torso and legs length, I have a friend with long legs (he is 6'2'ish) kuiu pants (34 inch inseam) are short, I have a very long torso and find kuiu (jackets, shirts)are build for this.

that being said my stuff is older and kuiu has some sizing issues with new stuff it sounds like.
