How ya been John?
You can sharpen your 155s with the BHD sharpener with no problem. Just start with the coarsest stone you have and work the bevel side till you can feel a burr running the entire length of the blade. This could be one minute or a few minutes depending on how coarse your stone is. You don't need to grind a whole new bevel, just raise a burr.
Then go to a finer (medium grit) stone and continue working the bevel side a bit more. Not as much time as you spent with the first stone, just long enough to remove the scratches left by the coarse grit.
Now, before you leave the medium grit stone, flip the clamp and make 5-8 forward passes down the stone. No more than that. This will remove the burr from the unbeveled side.
Then flip the clamp again finish up just like it was a double bevel blade- 1 forward pass, rotate the clamp, 1 forward pass, rotate the clamp and so on. About 8-10 passes total, each pass lighter than the previous. The last two passes are so light that the blade is barely even touching the stone.
That's it. It should be plowing hair at this point. You can repeat on a finer stone if you like but when you're done with the stones, finish up by stropping on a piece of plain brown corrugated cardboard. Stropping is always done pulling the blade backward (the opposite of sharpening) because the slightest forward motion will instantly cut into your strop.
Charlie, you'll follow this same procedure, except that when using the knife sharpener the stone is moving instead of the blade.
Question? Thanks!
