I am also currently looking. I also not prefer to have shoulder straps but the bigger the pack the more they begin to make sense. Someone recently suggested to me that I try starting with a stout belt of my choice leather or nylon (leo/mil or workers toolbelt) and then add the number, size and shape pouches that I choose.  This would leave open the option of a small side arm/knife if desired....I'm still working on it....Tom.

Check out Bison Gear and Tenzing.  I think Tenzing fanny pack without straps (around 700 cu. in.) may be what you are looking for.

I picked up 2 Badlands packs (Monster & Diablo) a awhile back. The Monster will hold 5X the equipment you listed. It may take a few tries to get the straps adjusted-but after that you'll have a pack that last.

I have a badlands monster fanny pack for sale on the classifieds. I love the shoulder straps. Seems like the further I walk with one that does not have the straps the further it works down on my hips. I just hate those. I am selling mine because where I hunt I just don't need that much carrying capacity and now use a small backpack.

I have a Badlands Nano fanny pack that I picked up for discounted price at Camofire online. It is 650 ci with 4 pockets and 2 water bottle pockets on the main pack. It also has 2 convenient pockets on the waistbelt. I carry two 20 oz water bottles, food, mini flashlite, headlamp, knife, para cord, mini 1st aid kit, matches, lighter, small emergency space blanket, disposable plastic poncho, game calls, wind checker and reflective tacks etc. I'll strap a jacket on top if needed. This setup rides comfortable and gets me thru the day in the whitetail or turkey woods.

Badlands are nice.  Timber Hawk also makes some great gear for the price, I have one of their fannys.

A few preference things to consider are small pockets on the hip belt, water bottle(and your preferred size)pockets, and noisy fabric when cold. Also check the mountain climbing brands. My old and very worn NorthFace FP also had small aluminum frame rods that really helped support the load. I may have Bison Gear make one with the options I prefer which is much simplified compared to many on the market. Almost forgot to recommend some straps on top to tie on a coat, etc.

I've posted this before, but I love my Badlands pack!

I have been using a Mountain Smith fanny pack for over 20 years.  Not made necessarily for hunting but adapts very well.

Mine (forget the make) has removable shoulder straps. I really like this option depending on how heavy it's loaded and how far I'm hiking.

Anybody try a Timber Hawk? My local Walmart has the Backstrap on sale real cheap. I was wondering if they're any good. I like the basic design, and it has plenty of room for what I'd like to take. Reviews seem fairly good. Unconditional Lifetime warranty as well.

I really like the old Badlands roll top fanny pack.  I'll strap it to my tree with the top open...makes it easy & quiet to get things in/out.
