Hunting Picture to wood art?
« on: February 04, 2015, 02:23:00 PM »
A few years ago I believe there was a sponsor on this site that could take a person's hunting picture and turn it into a wooden trophy. Any body remember the sponsor? Thanks

I think you are probably talking about a guy goes by the handle of  Hooked.  He is the one who did the burn of Biggie and his moose.

Haven't seen or heard anything out of Chip for a long time. He went by Hooked on here as mentioned.

His woodburned pictures were works of art. Hope he is doing OK.

He was a good member and an Assoc Sponsor.  he hasn't been around in a while.  Quit posting not long after his dad died.

Hope all is well with him.

Hi!  Well, close, Terry...thankfully my Dad is still with us, but it has been a long time since I have been on here.  Around the time Garrett, my son, had his third heart surgery I think is when my posting slowed down and eventually dropped to nothing.  Garrett is doing great.  Still only has half a heart, but he is as ornery and energetic as any other 8 year old I know, lol.

I also took quite a hiatus from the carving and woodburning.  I got a little burnt out, no pun intended from all the orders I did for TradGang members.  I am back though and need to talk to you about being an assoc sponsor again.  Gonna take it slower this time.  At one time a few years ago I had like 27 orders on my waiting list.  This time I think I will only take a couple orders at a time, if people are still interested.  Need to refresh my memory on how to post pics on here.  I think I used to use photobucket.  Gonna have to check TradGang guidelines.

Someone mentioned Biggie and his moose in an above post.  Just thought I would share...and, Terry, I just sent payment to be an assoc sponsor again.

Dhoward,

Just posted a listing on the St Jude auction...that's one way, lol!

I actually don't have a waiting list at the moment.  I haven't taken orders in a few years with the exception of Buff's elephant that I just finished.  But I am back in the saddle and taking orders.  Before when I was actively doing these pieces I had 20-30 on my waiting list at one time.  Which I think contributed to me getting burnt out.  This time I am only going to take deposits on a couple at a time so I don't get so overwhelmed.

Once Terry has my associate sponsorship thing set up, I will post in that section about waiting lists, prices, etc.

I remember the Biggie "build-along". Real neat to see the finished product.

That's a fine pair of moose in that picture, Hooked. I look forward to again seeing your work  highlighted on Trad Gang. It would be even better to get something worthy of your talents.

Sam,

Any animal is a trophy and worthy of my work!  I've done trophy pics with does and spikes, pheasant, turkey, etc.  I think it is more about the memory than the size of the trophy.  Anything taken with trad gear is a trophy.
