Looking for Ideas for TABS to Try....
« on: February 04, 2015, 04:12:00 PM »
Hey all,

I'm fresh off a trip to the TANDY Leather store and I am going to make a couple tabs like I regularly use, but I'd also like to try some new styles of tabs.

I shoot 3 under.  I'd like to see some different styles of tabs for ideas.  If you have one of your own making or one you bought, how about posting it?  Would like to see different kinds of tabs.

Thanks

My vote is the Saunders Pak-Tab. They are broke in out of the box, impervious to water, don't hold odors like leather, and are slicker than owl droppings! I'm pretty sure they make a 3-under version now, but i know several folks who shoot 3-under and use the split version.

I like the Sanders Fab Tab. Like the ak Tab, but with no extra layers or spacer.

X3 on the Saunders tab, takes a little getting used to but you will not find a cleaner release

I really like the Rod Jenkins Signature tab which is 3 under.

My favorite is the E.W. Bateman tab.  Model 3TABC which is Cordovan leather with either rubber or suede backing and an awesome elastic strap.  I really think it is the perfect tab for me!

Not the best pic but you can see the details.  The extra overlay of leather is great for lining up the string in same position each time.

I've got a Pak-Tab and one of the BW tabs that is pictured above.

One thing I don't have is one of those Bateman tabs.  I also like that kind of attachment to the fingers.  I'd like to get more ideas on how to use that elastic to keep the tab in place better.

One thing is that I have never been able to stand the kind of tabs that have the leather hole for your finger to go through.  I just never took to them.  I guess it's the material that is between the fingers that irritates me so much.  If I could find out how to minimize the amount of leather on the sides of the hole where it is between my fingers, that kind of tab might work too.  I'll have to try and figure out something to try and make it work.

Any ideas of how that could be done?

Any ideas for tabs and using elastic or paracord or O-rings to keep them in place, post them up.  I can always use new ideas to try.

Thanks all

I would have to say either bateman or black widow.
