WTH happened to the Saunders Pak-Tab?
« on: February 13, 2015, 03:41:00 PM »
I have been shooting a Saunders Pak-Tab for a long time. I love this tab and recommend it to everyone looking for a new tab to try. The other day a buddy of mine gave me a brand new one, still in the package. He said he tried it and did not like it. While putting it together, I noticed that the dark brown, main part of the tab was very stiff. I figured that maybe he had had it for a long time and left it in he sun or something for it to be stiff like that. I threw it in he trash because it was so stiff!

Today I was at the local shop and noticed that he had gotten in a new order of Pak-Tabs. So I opened one up, and guess what? The brand new one was stiff, just like the one I had thrown in the trash! Saunders must have changed the material that they make these out of, and I am very disappointed! I sure hate it when things change for the worse,

Rant over!

Yep, and they always seem to change for the worse.  They constantly seem to be "improving" on all sorts of things and they never suit me as well.  Maybe I'm just an old f#@* and don't like change, but the changes never seem to be as user friendly.  My motto now is if you find something that works well for you, buy a lifetime supply because when you go back for more they either don't make it any more or it's been "improved" to the point of uselessness.  OK, end of rant!   :knothead:

It is still good, and if I did not have a bunch in my stash, I would buy it, but I sure is stiffer, and not as good as it was before!

The folks at Saunders are good people--Mr. Tom and Troy are friends of mine.  Why not contact them and ask?

I just placed an order with 3R's and was about to get one because of what you had to say about them Bisch. Glad I held out now!

My complaint is, when something ain't broke, don't try and fix it!   :banghead:

I bought one about 6 months ago after Bateman did the same thing, can't shoot either one, to stiff. I went with an Angel Tab 2 and liked it so well I picked up 4 more. Probably should buy another 6 or so to get me through to the grave.

You might try just a little bit of Montana Pitch Blend to soften it up.

It is not made of leather. I'm not sure that would help much.

Well, I just sent an email to Saunders Archery. We will see if they answer me.

Just wondering if you ever got a response from Saunders about the tab?

That's a shame, I was wanting to try one for bowfishing.  Seems like a plastic tab would be perfect for it.

I got an e-mail from them last year in one day after contacting them asking if I could buy the brown rubber (non pinch)? finger separator because I had lost a bunch. I ask if they could make some  bright colored ones because if you drop them in leafs they are hard to find. I have never worn one out in 15 years but lost many. Best bowfishing tab made also.

They ask my address and would not take any money and sent 5 of them.

You should go ahead and try it. It is still a good tab. IMO, it is just not as good as it was before. It is a perfect tab for bowfishing too.

I think the problem I stated would most like only be visible to those who have been shooting the Pak-Tab for a while. Someone new to this tab would not know the difference.

Well, I guess they just are not interested in hearing some constructive criticism from loyal customers then? I don't know, but I sent the email to the address on their website, and never got any reply.

Stuff happens......re-send the e-mail.  Best to assume that they had a technical problem and would love to hear from you than to assume they don't care.
