9/32" taper tapering..?
«

I was sorting through my shafts and found a dozen 5/16 to 9/32 tapered cedars. My problem is/will be, how to taper the 9/32 end for the nocks since that is not a bushing size that came with my taper tool.
Any suggestions?

Hi there . Put 2 sections of tape around the shaft to make bough fit your 5/16 bushing .more closer to the nock and less away from the nock so bough are 5/16 . Then taper as you would a 5/16 shaft . When I used to make 5/16 tapered to 9/32 or 1/4 , I tapered when the shaft was 5/16 and then my tapering jeg used the nock tapper to index off .

Nice trick, I can shim with the tape and then check fit with a drill bit gauge.

There are instructions in the Resource forum for building and using a V block in conjunction with a disc sander for the 5 and 11 degree tapers. Look for Nock Taper, there or on YouTxxe.

try some different sized o-rings.
I used them to taper some bamboo shafts I made from planting stakes.
