I hunted near La Cygne a few years ago instead of my usual area near Marysville and tuttle creek.i am thinking about trying there again this coming fall.i was hoping for some input from anyone near that area as to how  the hunting has been the last couple years.thanks, john

John, I live and hunt about 10 miles north of La Cygne and our numbers have really been down the last couple years. The severe drought 2 years ago caused me to sell of most of our cattle and the effect on the deer herd was traumatic. EHD hit hard when the creeks dried to small pot holes and the deer drinking in them were infected by the biting mids found around them. I used to always see 3-5 deer every setting. This last year I only saw 3-5 all season. I didn't see any Pope and Young deer the last two years and I always saw 4 or 5 each year before. Not trying to keep you away ,but I'd wait a couple years before trying it again here in eastern Kansas. There may be spots here that are not gloom and doom, but I haven't seen it local.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

John, I think I'm the one that gave you info before on La Cygne! You got a 10 pointer in a draw around a brush pile as I remember.

Some buddies of mine hunt around there and the numbers are down, EHD really put a hurting on them.
