Thunderhorn Boa "mod along"
« on: March 04, 2015, 12:52:00 PM »
This is my first crack at trying this so please bear with me, hopefully you get the jest of it when I'm done! The object of the mod is to get your arrows moved back from in front of the bow.

Here's a list of tools/ materials
Hacksaw
Drill with 1/2 drill bit
Center punch
10-32 tap with drill bit
1/8x1 aluminum flat stock (6" long min)
1/2 aluminum bolt
10/32 cap screw/small fender washer

The first step is to determine how much set back you want, I chose 3" but you can do whatever fits your needs. Next you mark, center punch and drill two 1/2 holes in your aluminum flat then cut to length.

Now that you have your bar cut to length and drilled you need to determine if your going to paint it or cover it with leather. If covering with leather you need to do that before continuing on! Trust me on this   :banghead:   ok now you need to put the 1/2 bolt through the arrow gripper and the bar and mark the bolt then cut it just SHORT of your mark.

Then you drill and tap the center of the bolt, this does not have to be perfectly centered alls it's doing is holding things together.

Time for lunch then to work for a 3-11 shift. I'll finish up tomorrow!

That works.  All of mine are already kicked back like that, maybe because they are the Lynx model?

That very well could be Brad, I usually just buy the basic black plastic one and cover the hood and set it back myself, probably doesn't really save me any money but I like doing this kinda stuff   :)

Pretty much all that's left to do is paint the bar and then reassemble everything

Now on to the hood!
I had some leftover snake skins from a bow project so I decided to put it to use on a quiver hood. I talked the wife outa one of her purses for some leather.

Then I simply scuffed up the side of the hood with some 60 grit sandpaper and glued a piece of skin to it with some TB III. Next I cut the leather to fit the hood then stitched it up the sides

Next I traced out a design of an arrow head on the leather so that it would be centered over the snakeskin I had previously glued on the hood. Then I slid the leather off the hood and drilled a series of holes all the way around the edge of the hood big enough for the needle and thread I was using.

Then I cut my design out of the leather and slid it back on the hood.

We're almost done! Next I folded the leather over the edge of the hood and then stitched it all the way around, the last step was to fold back the leather around the edge of your design and drill a series of holes following its edge and then stitch around that.

Now all you have to do is reassemble your hood and mount it up! Hope you all enjoyed!
