What broad head for turkeys?
« on: March 04, 2015, 06:46:00 PM »
Hey all, what broadheads are you using for turkeys. Has anyone ever used the bullheads or the giatines, don't know how to spell that one. Or what about the turkey broadheads from  VPA? Thanks

I've been fortunate to kill a few and because the kill zone is about the size of your fist, I like BIG heads like the Snuffer and Centaur. Shot opportunities are dear enough that I won't try head shots nor the broadheads marketed for that. Hope this is helpful and good luck with the birds.

I have had excellent results with simmons heads  I always try to go for wing butt or upper thighs and they don't make it far

I am going to try some Tuskers this year.

Drewsbow sent me some out of the kindness of his heart so I think I'll give them a try. Gonna be mounted on some 30.5" 2219's. I think they'll work great.

I'd go big 160 snuffer or Big jim 3 blade, or treeshark or battle axe......  how about scorpios though have any of you used scorpios on the shaft even with big heads?

I had them on but never made a hit with one one!  BUT they are perfect for not loosing that arrow with a nice broadhead on it.

I haven't killed a lot of turkeys with a bow, but the ones I have killed were shot with the old style Wensel Woodsmans. Though I do understand the logic behind using big/wide broadheads on turkeys.

Back in the old days, Ben Pearson designed the 135 Deadhead for deer and the 155 extra wide Deadhead for heavy bows and also recommended the wide Deadhead for turkeys. The old Herters four blade works pretty good for turkeys and deer.

Nothing wrong with the old Bear razorheads....my last Kansas turkey only went about 15 yards.
