Looking for advice on picking a broadhead used in a low poundage set up 47lb with a 28 inch draw. Pretty new to this game I've always shot compound. Love the feel of my long bow but the arrow and broadhead that I've choosen has me just a little worried. Please advice Thx

Firstlight

There are many types of broad heads that I suspect will work fine.

I have a similar set up as you and am happy with Magnus Stingers two blade. I use both the 125 & 150 BH's. magnus

Zwickey makes good BH's and I'm sure others will add plenty of other suggestions.

Are you using a carbon arrow?

Firstlight

Alum. only...  I have never used carbon so I can't help there.

175g Zwickey's work good for me with 500 spine 30" carbon arrows. my bow weight and draw length are the same as yours.

Looks like I may see the problem been going a little lite on the set up Thank you

Any 2 blade head that you can get scary sharp should work just fine. Without you telling us what arrow and broadhead you have chosen it is hard to comment on whether it is a good or bad choice.

If you can get a tuned arrow that is around 10 grains per pound of draw weight, you should be fine.

I would recommend a 2 blade head. I would also recommend using a head with single bevel.

Check out the Tree Shark/Land Shark line. Great flight and what I think is impressive penetration.

The two most important factors are going to be having a cut on contact head, and having it be scary sharp - and having it come out of a well tuned set up. That expandable stuff coming from your compound isn't going to work anymore.

There's lots of good recommendations here so far. I shoot Landsharks as well.

I shoot 47#@28" also and use 160 grain 3 blade VPA's and shoot through deer like butter. Also use them on turkey with great results. Most broadheads will do the job if sharp and fly good.

With all the more knowledgeable shooters/hunters here than myself, I hesitate to offer advice on much of anything. I will say that I've used the same weight bows (50#@28") for some time, and with a well tuned arrow of the proper weight, with a SHARP COC broadhead, I don't think you'll have any problems on thin skinned game. Personally, I love my Woodsmans. I started using them quite a few years ago and I've never seen a reason to use anything else. I use them on everything. Again, just my opinion.

Hi Donavon,  I shoot a 45# recurve @ 28",  I actually draw closer to 29".  125grn Zwickey Eskimos work great on my cedar shafts.  On my carbons I use the Esklites with the screw in adapter that is installed at the factory, they weigh 135 grns.

as long as you skip the mechanical or chisel tips and use a cut on contact your pretty good.
I like zwicky, grizzly, tuffheads. single bevel of dual bevel work great the key is sharp sharp sharp. I like the more solid sturdy blades.

Zwickey Delta out of a LS Slammer 50# @29" 525gr. arrow. Good luck.
