Bowyers ...Can This bow be shot?

Any idea what may have caused this and can this bow be shot safely? Thanks.

Looks like it got hit real good.  Perhaps slammed in a car door or trunk.  Can't see/determine the damage from the pic, but if the glass is lifted from the wood somewhat, I'd try some repair before shooting. Can you drizzle some epoxy or Locktite 420 into the area from the edge of the limb?  If some of the fiberglass fibers are broken, get some epoxy in that area as well. Good luck.

P.S. Probably shootable as is.  The repair is as much to stop the damaged area from growing as to strengthen it.

Looks like moisture has got in thru the edge of the lams. Also an area that does alot of work. I would'nt continue to shoot it.

I guess I should have prefaced this post by saying that I don't own this bow but was looking to purchase it. I have not seen the bow in person, only pics from the seller.

Fred, It looks as if the finish is pulling away from the bow either due to moisture or a hard impact.  

I think your purchase price should take into consideration the bow will need "fixing" and that it could have a shorter life than one in "Good" or better condition.

Typically, when I see a condition issue such as that I tend to steer clear unless the price is less than half what I think current market value would be for one in fair condition.  For this reason I probably have missed out on some real gems but I have only had one bow fail on me out of around 70.

I don't think I would buy it unless it was a take down and I could get new limbs. That ding is just to big for me.

To many bows that aren't damaged to settle for this bow.. sometimes you can talk yourself into a bad decision.

I differ....it the price is right and you can fix it good deal.  OR...if the price is right and you can get new limbs.... assuming it's a takedown... at a good price then also a good deal.

It's all relative to the asking price.

Looked at that bow the other day and soon as I saw that I passed. Nope stay away.
