Sam, You can Google Carolina Traditional Archery to find out the history and events there. The next monthly shoot is April 4. I don't go as often as I'd like to, but there are usually 50 or more people attending these monthly shoots. It's a fun event and there is a lot of talent among the membership. There are several bowyers, others making arrows, leather work, stone knapping, etc. It's a good place to have fun and to learn. They are the largest and oldest traditional archery club in both of the Carolinas.
There is another trad club near where I live in Mebane. It's a smaller club, but has a nice setting in the woods. Barefoot Traditional Archers (formerly Sissipahaw) has 3 open shoot events each year. Google Barefoot Traditional Archery to find out more info. They are only 12 mile away so I usually make at least two of the three events. Like Carolina Traditional Archery, the people are friendly, and the food is great.
