what are the options for a 225 grain head in .246 (5/16)?

I would like to add about 25 grains up front to my arrows and am currently using a 200 grain tip.  The arrow is on the verge of being too stiff, but is good when everything goes right.  

I think 25 grains would help me a lot!

I am using some blood sport hunter arrows.

if you like the heads you're currently shooting you may find you can add a washer to get the weight you want and not change a thing.   or screw/glue something to the back of the insert before gluing the inserts in.  

what string are you shooting?  jumping to a skinny may help the borderline too stiff issue.  As can moving the strike plate on your shelf forward they say though I haven't has the need to mess with it.

Before I did ANYTHING....I'd buy some 225 gr heads from 3 rivers and give them a run if you haven't already.  This would be step 1 before I gave heads a thought.  There's ways to get weight up front without having to change heads with small weight changes like you're wanting to do.

I have a set of Steel Force Traditionals I got from 3Rivers that are 225gr. Two blade single bevel. They seem fairly strong. I haven't had a chance to shoot them though. Here's a link to them.

i guess I should have mentioned this in original post, i was referring to field tips, but I have since found some.  First google search i posted, did return anything.

Options are slim, but not necessarily none. Folks who are particular about hitting an exact weight have taken glue-ons an steel adapters and "rolled their own" field points.  I don't use glue-ons, but maybe a 145 gr. paired with a 75 gr. adapter would get you close.  You may have to contend with an off-set at the insert that will make them a bear to pull out of targets.  In actual 5/16th diam., I think 175 gr. is as high as they go.  Maybe we need tungsten points!!!

Depending on what kind of arrows you're shooting, a different insert might be in order. GTs are tapped all the way through and you can screw 25 or 50 gr weights into the back of the insert. I do that with my 3555s so I can use 175 gr field points. I have 225 gr FPs, but they are harder to pull out of a hard target because of the larger diameter necked down to 5/16.

I have a set of these. They have a taper at the rear that makes getting them out of a target much easier. I use them on my GT traditionals. The base is 5/16" with a body of 11/32". They come in 200, 225, 250, or 300 grain.

dorado, thank you for the reply.  i found some for $6/dzn at simply traditional.  They are also the ez pull ones.  You wont find those for that price any where else!

I have some of the older Steel Force single bevels that are marked 225 grains on the package...the actual weight is about 212 grains

I didn't know about simply traditional. I'm going to look at them and see if they have anything I just can't live without. lol
Glad you found what you were looking for. 225gr is what I shoot as well.

Yeah, mine were a bit light as well. I believe mine were about 218-220gr. Nothing a 5gr weight couldn't fix.
