I got an update last night from Preacher...he spent all day working bait sites and checking cameras. He set a couple new sites and went through an entire pallet of corn plus three barrels of peanut butter...seems the pigs like the chunky kind the best...me too
we have done little this year to thwart the advancing numbers of pigs on the place...like we could have any say in pig population control.
It is evident that the natural available food sources are diminishing.
As with every year, the frequency of bait attacks grow as does the time they spend there.
Unfortunately our available hunting opportunities diminish also.
We have some of our sites...typically the sites with an abundance of bait such as corn feeder and a barrel of peanut butter, that are experiencing as many as 30 pigs at a time and from 8 P.m. to 5 a.m.. Several different groups visiting during those hours.
I am envisioning my self laying in wait over one of those in the next few days.
I hunted about ten days ago and had a big fatty come in close but winded me, stomped and grunted several times to let me know he wasn't happy that I was there..and then lit out.
I changed my location for better wind and an hour later missed two practice pigs.
I have been a little frustrated this year with my night time shooting so I thought I would do a little practice in the back yard. Seems that I can group very well in the dark utilizing my bow light...but the group is a full 12" to the right..hmmm?? Going to have to figure that one out quick. It is not my set up as I can hold my own during the daylight.
I vow to make it right soon!
Good memories Manny! again soon my friend,
