I think we got an archer, here!

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

I shot the course with Liz at Culloden, which was her very first round of 3D. She did really well! In relation to the time she has been shooting as compared to how long I have been at it, she outperformed me. Woodchucker, that bow you provided her suits her just fine, and yes, it is obvious that she is having great fun. She repeatedly mentioned how she loves the bow and how thankful she is to have it. She also repeatedly reminded herself out loud to slow down and breathe through the adrenaline rush. It was really fun to shoot with her, as her enthusiasm just bubbled over all through the day.

Liz, never lose the excitement for archery that you now feel. I hope your boys join you in this adventure. I also hope you can make these other shoots you mentioned. The more you shoot, the more fun it gets. It was a lot of fun to shoot the course with you.

Liz, glad to see things coming together for you! Nothing more soothing than the flight of an arrow hitting where you want it. My daughter found shooting to be a great way to spend the weekends with me. She will be starting college in August and I hope we find time to still get out.

Enjoy and remember, it's not the end but, the journey that makes it all worth while! TW

Just Jumping in here...

It tickles me to see someone get into the sport with as much enthusiasm as you are showing Liz.

Congrats and it sounds like you bumped into some of the best people on here.

Looks to me like you have the "sickness". You are certainly shooting it very well.

Love that the kids are playing too.

I'm glad to hear that you'd like to hunt someday. If you think shooting your bow is exciting, wait til you draw on a deer, turkey, whatever. I've been hunting for 40 years and my heart rate and breathing go up to dangerous levels at that time, lol. The day that doesn't happen, is the day I quit hunting.

Hiya everyone!!!

Been without a computer for 3 weeks, it about killed me!! hahahahaha!!!  Got some photos here of my boys shooting the bows TBG lent us!  Those guys are awesome!!  I am continuing to practice, I bought a target for the back yard, and my boys have joined me!!  Haven't been able to make a 3D shoot since ALZ, I have been working so much, but SOON! Thanks to Rob for all of the pointers and advice on my form !!  Thanks to Chuck (woodchucker) for all of the equipment that he has sent me and my boys!!!  Without him NONE of this would be possible!!!  I can't wait to someday PAY IT FORWARD to someone else with children!!    :D

Look at that form!! I am a proud mama!

Nathan:

Logan:

BULLSEYE!!!!!

I know I need to work on my form, I just can't seem to get that blasted elbow down!

A fellow tradganger told me to squeeze my shoulder blades together, so I am working on doing that.  I will also check out the shooters form forum...
It doesn't seem to be hurting my shooting though, this was at around 20 to 25 yards:

I am having a blast everyone!!  My life has taken off faster than I can keep up!!  I am loving the ride though!!  WOOOOOHOOOO!!

Bob, Chuck is one of the best, I think you two would hit it off. Perhaps you need to meet?

love seeing family archery, way to go!

liz, yer at the point where you'd benefit greatly from on-the-spot coaching by either a qualified coach or archer, specifically schooled in traditional instinctive archery.  someone who, when yer at full draw, can push yer bow arm elbow down, and reference your deltoids/back muscles so you'll instantly know what you need to do.

They say opposites attract, so you may be right about that Charlie.  ;)

Chuck and I may do a little hunting this fall. I'm hoping to make it to OXTAR in Sept. to talk it over with him.

To be honest, I've always been kind of a loner, but since joining Trad Gang, and interacting with the people here, I've found a whole bunch of folks I'd like to meet, you included. The problem is, being the poor boy that I am, I can't travel very far to meet anybody.

I've actually thought about inviting you out here for a turkey hunt all season, but the turkey population is so low here this year, that I don't think it would be worth your time to drive out. In the years prior to this one, you would have had a blast.

I have that sneaky old bird I've been hunting on my friends place, but he hasn't been able to get out yet this year due to his work, and I don't know how he'd feel about me bringing somebody else over to hunt. I'd like to get together with you sometime though.

I still haven't gotten outfitted for bowfishing, but if you like to hunt frogs, maybe we can get together when that opens and shoot a few of them. Sounds like a good time to me.

Bob
