I took my youngest son to the NGTA championship shoot. It was his first one and he loved it! He shot both courses and did pretty good! I will post pictures when I get internet back. My other two sons are a little more receptive to it now, seeing how much fun Nathan had.

Great thread. Love your enthusiasm Liz.

Has anyone directed you to the Archery Library online?
Great reading when you have the sickness and just can't get enough.
You will learn much about the history of our great sport/obsession.
Keep having fun,

Scott

Looks like a great time! I think I may have shot with guy with the white beard and ponytail you met in Grayling. Is his name Jerry? If its the same guy he was quite a character!

Well, hello again everyone.
I went on my first hunting trip last weekend in Michigan.  We went to one spot and built up a couple of existing blinds, then saw a lot of scrapes, beds and rubs in that area.  Very exciting. However, the next day the wind was not right, so we ended up going north a little and building up a blind there and sitting for a couple of hours.  Very hard to sit still and quiet, but I made it, lol.  Didn't see any deer, but still had so much fun.  Going back in a couple of weeks, hopefully this time I will see some deer and even see my friend shoot one.

Maybe next year, need to work on getting my license and becoming a better shooter.  I want to though.  Gotta work on controlling my adrenaline.  My friend told me that he might not want me to see a deer up close, that I might have a heart attack, lol.

It has been a year...

I want to express my gratitude again to everyone I have met and talked to over the past year.  You all have made all the difference in my life.  I started over fresh and my journey so far has been the best in my life with the exception of having my children.  I feel like I am really living now instead of just existing.  Discovering my love for archery and the people associated with it has helped me grow as a person.  It has opened my eyes and my soul.

Thank you to Woodchucker for my bow,  I still love her and shoot her and I really haven't had the desire for any other.  Everywhere I go people ask about her and some want to see her and hold her. I am thinking about giving her a name, lol.

My targets a year ago:

Thanks to Rob for the form tips.  :)
I have met so many great people.  The gang from the Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia have been so supportive. The people here on TG and GON also have been invaluable, I am so so grateful.
I finally met some women hunters and some of us are planning a hunting trip this fall!!!!! I have a LOT to do to prepare!!  WOOHOO!!

Thanks to everyone who have supported me and sent me links and tips, and those who have helped me and my boys with the archery equipment,  I hope someday to pay it forward.  I have been invited to volunteer helping teach kids the basics, I will start there.

Thank you again everyone, I hope the next thing I post will be my first trad kill!!

Awesome thread describing your then new venture from one-year ago to your progress now.

Congratulations on what has been a phenomenal and successful journey for you.

Wish there was some way to get my wife and daughter as enthused about archery as you are.  I reckon they'd have a wonderful time of it as well.

Way to go Liz! Passing on the tradition is a very satisfying element of Traditional Archery. I wish you well!
