I like your quote, Liz. My niece, Kaelyn, who is five, shot with me this past weekend. She loves the movie Brave. She wants me to call her Brave, instead of Merida.

Hang out here and soak it up.

Welcome!

Your niece sounds awesome.  I'm glad the girls in this world now have a princess that doesn't need saving to model themselves after.    :)

I am soaking it up, so much on this site, thank you.  :)

Great pic   :)   I wish I had a daughter...

The only reason I have a smart phone is because my niece gave me her old one after she got a new fancy one. If I am going to spend $100 to $200, it will be on a new bow, not a phone.

Speaking of a new bow,  I am expecting one on Monday or Tuesday.  I never thought I would say this, but this is the longest weekend of my life. HA

I can't wait!!!!  For today I will go to my 2nd archery lesson...

What kind of bow is finding a new home in your hand? Curious minds want to know.   :archer2:

1970's Bear Patriot Recurve. It's 66" 35# @ 28".   Blue "Futurewood" with a Red accent stripe Riser and White glass limbs.  I just found out today that my draw length is exactly 28", so that's perfect.

I am SOOOOO excited!

At the range today, I got a little discouraged because I wasn't shooting as well as the last time I was there, which was the 31st of March.  (I didn't have the money to pay for the practice time, equipment rental, etc.)  The instructor must have seen my frustration because he then told the class that one has to practice 3 times a week to keep the brain programmed to shoot.  That made me feel a lot better.

Stay with it!! Even after 40 years or so of shooting, a person can have off days. Don't ask how I know this!i   :D
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Kenny got that one right. Some days "it" just doesn't click. You just need to stick with it.

I'm happy to hear that you have a bow on the way, and how excited you are over it. I enjoy traditional archery and bowhunting as much now as I did 40 years ago, and that's something I can't say about a lot of other things. It has a charm all It's own, and it never seems to get old. Congrats on your new bow, enjoy.

There are some clubs near me.  I am trying to take baby steps with all of this, to make sure that I am serious about it all.  So far I feel like I am.  Even when my shooting is sucking,  I still get the rush from it.  I don't have to think about anything else except the next shot.  Very therapeutic.
