Advice Needed - cleaning up an old bow

I was recently given an old Bear recurve by a distant relative.  The bow seems to be in good shape but the owner had left camo tape on the bow and there is alot of residue remaining.  Also, they had used some flat black spray paint on the riser in spots. What is the best way to go about trying to clean it up?  Thanks in advance!

While there are many products that work. I've had good luck on both with good old WD-40 and some scotch brite. Spray a little on and go to work. Can clean the oily residue off with alcohol.

You can also use Acetone to clean it off ,I just cleaned up an old longbow I had. Then I buffed it with steel wool and shot it with Poly.

I like to use a Magic Eraser foam pad. It worked wonders on a bunch of old club recurves !! Mike

I just cleaned up a set of hoyt limbs that had been camo painted.  I used a finishing pad (the kind used to buff inbetween paint coats) and denatured alcohol.  Worked like a charm.  I found some real pretty green glass limbs under all that paint   :D
